The U.S. Open is set to expand its main draw to 15 days in 2025, announced by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) on Wednesday. This change marks the tournament’s first weekend start in the Open Era, with play now beginning a day earlier than the usual Monday opening.

As part of the new schedule, the men’s and women’s singles first rounds will span three days, starting on Sunday, August 24. This extension provides room for an additional 70,000 attendees or more, following three consecutive years of record-breaking attendance at the U.S. Open, with the 2024 event seeing the highest turnout in history.
